Markets closed down.
Markets closed down, after opening weak and traded almost sluggish all day, amid FY13 GDP growth forecast and weak global trend. Sensex closed down by 59.40 points or 0.30% at 19,580.32 after touching high of 19,702.65 and low of 19,540.08, while Nifty ended down by 20.40 points or 0.34% at 5,938.80, after hitting high of 5,978.50 and low of 5,927.60 in the day’s trading.

Sector wise, IT and Auto indices ended the day with positive gains, whereas Consumer Durables was knocked down by 3.34% followed were Real-Estate, Power, Metal, Capital Goods, PSU, Healthcare, Oil & Gas and Bank were down between 0.5-1.5 percent each. While FMCG index closed almost flat tad up by 0.03%. In broader market both Mid-cap and Small-cap indices were knocked down by 0.88% and 1.34% respectively.

Major stock gainers were, M&M gaining up by 1.26%, TCS advanced up by 1.2%, Tata Motors up by 0.89%, Infosys gained up by 0.56%, while Wipro tad up by 0.10% Coal India up by 0.47%, HDFC and HDFC Bank up by 0.40 and 0.36% HUL up by 0.40%, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries up by 0.17%.

Major stock losers were, Sterlite Industries, Jindal Steel Tata Steel and Hindalco Industries fell by 2.92%, 1.37%, 1.66% and 1%, NTPC and Tata Power Co. down by 2.72% and 1.97%, Cipla fell by 2.61%, Gail (India) down by 2.29%, Bharti Airtel slumped by 2.08%, Hero Motocorp fell by 1.30%, L&T fell by 1.22%, BHEL fell by 1.22%, State Bank of India and ICICI Bank down by 1.02% and 0.84%, ONGC down by 0.61%, Reliance Industires fell by 0.44%, Dr. Reddy's Lab down by 0.21%, ITC down by 0.12%, Bajaj Auto down by 0.95% and Maruti Suzuki tad down by 0.06%.

As per the advance estimates of the Central Statistical Organization, the GDP growth rate for the current fiscal is estimated to be at 5 per cent, the lowest in a decade. The economy grew by 6.2 per cent in 2011-12 fiscal. (Source Economic Times) NTPC slumped by almost 3%, extending its previous day’s 2.1% fall, after the government proposes to offload its 9.5% stake in the company through the offer for sale (OFS) route. Tata Power is down by almost 1%.

Cipla slipped by 3% after reporting a lower-than-expected 25.5% year-on-year (yoy) growth in net profit at Rs 339 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2012 (Q3).

Strides Arcolab dropped by 13%, amid uncertainty over the sale of its injectables-medicine unit Agila Specialities.

Manappuram Finance tanked 8% after the Kerla-based gold loan company has reported 48% year-on-year (yoy) drop in its net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2012 (Q3).

Godrej Industries gained after posting better-than-expected numbers for the quarter ending December 2012.

Jubilant Foodworks surged by 3.41%, after foreign fund house Morgan Stanley Asia (Singapore) bought additional shares of the company for over Rs 37 crore.

Honeywell Automation gained by 3.46%, after reporting 14.5% year-on-year (yoy) growth in operating profit at Rs 52 crore for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2012 (Q4) mainly on account of lower raw material cost.

Markets close weak.
Markets slumped amid weak FY13 GDP forecast, Sensex closed down by 52 points at 19,588 (provisionally), while Nifty closed down by 19 points at 5,941 (provisionally).

Markets trading weak.
Markets trading almost flat, after opening weak in the morning, amid weak global cues. Sensex is down by 10 points or 0.05% at 19,629.71 after touching low of 19,574.73, while Nifty is down by 2.6 points or 0.04% at 5,956.60, after declining to low of 5,936.45.

Sector wise, Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Metal indices are trading weak, while IT, Auto, Real-Estate and Bank indices have edged up.

Markets opens weak.
Markets opened weak on a cautious note, amid weak cues from Asian market. Sensex opened down by 50.28 points or 0.26% is current now down by 53.98 points or 0.27% at 19,585.74, while Nifty opened down by 22.74 points or 0.38% is now down by 19.85 points or 0.33% at 5,939.35.

Sectoral all indices opened weak barring IT which is tap up by 0.21%, while all other indices are trading weak between 0.15-0.52%.
