Market Pulse - 25 Jun, 2013

Market Update
Market after opening positive in the morning and traded almost flat for the session, ended higher  after China's benchmark index Shanghai Composite rebounded form its low and positive Europe opening also laid to the positive closing of the benchmark index. Sensex positive up by 88.26 points or 0.48% at 18,629.15 after opening up by 61.36 points or 0.33% at 18,602.25  and touched a high of 18,802.31 and a low of 18,487.30 while Nifty ended up by 18.85 points or 0.34% at 5,609.10 after opening up by 16.70 points or 0.30% at 5,606.95 and touched a high of 5,666.25 and a low of 5,570.25 for the day.

Sectoral wise, Oil & Gas index gained by 1.53%, Capital Goods, FMCG, Auto and Realty advanced between 1%-0.40%, Bankex marginally up by 0.12%, Power dropped by 1.19%, Consumer Durables, Healthcare, Metal and IT indices declined between 1%-0.40%, while PSU index marginally down by 0.17%. From the Broader markets, Mid-cap and Small-cap indices were ended weak as compared to the benchmark index, with Mid-cap declining by 0.45% while Small-cap fell by 0.42% respectively.

Major index stock gainers were, Bharti Airtel rose by 4.34%, ONGC and Mahindra & Mahindra gained by 3.80% and 3.18%, Hindalco Inds up by 2.76%, ITC, HDFC Bank and RIL gained between 2%-1%, L&T, Gail (India), HIndustan Unilever, Bajaj Auto, Jindal Steel, Maruti Suzuki and Hero MotoCorp advanced between 1%-0.10% while Cipla and Sun Pharmaceutical tad up by 0.07% each.

Major index stock losers were, NTPC and Tata Power declined by 2.61% and 2.07%, SBI, ICICI Bank, Coal India, BHEL and TCS fell between 2%-1%, Wipro, Tata Motors, Sterlite Inds, HDFC and Dr Reddys Lab fell between 1%-0.10% while Infosys and Tata Steel tad down by 0.09% and 0.07%.

Overall market breadth was negative with 1,351 shares declined as compared to 953 shares advanced while 14 shares remained unchanged.
